³⁰ But ^(A)Sihon king of Heshbon was not willing for us to pass ^[a]through his land, for ^(B)Yahweh your God stiffened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, in order to give him over into your hand, as he is today.

⁴ However, his father and mother did not know that ^(A)it was of Yahweh, for He was seeking an occasion against the Philistines. Now at that time the Philistines were ruling over Israel.

²⁴ ‘Thus says Yahweh, “You shall not go up and fight against your brothers, the sons of Israel; return every man to his house, ^(A)for this thing is from Me.”’” So they listened to the word of Yahweh, and returned to go their way according to the word of Yahweh.

¹⁵ So the king did not listen to the people, ^(A)for it was a turn of events from God, ^(B)that Yahweh might establish His word, which He spoke through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
