Deuteronomy 21:16-18
Good News Translation
16 When the man decides how he is going to divide his property among his children, he is not to show partiality to the son of his favorite wife by giving him the share that belongs to the first-born son. 17 He is to give a double share of his possessions to his first son, even though he is not the son of his favorite wife. A man must acknowledge his first son and give him the share he is legally entitled to.
Concerning a Disobedient Son
18 “Suppose someone has a son who is stubborn and rebellious, a son who will not obey his parents, even though they punish him.

Deuteronomy 21:16-18
New International Version
16 when he wills his property to his sons, he must not give the rights of the firstborn to the son of the wife he loves in preference to his actual firstborn, the son of the wife he does not love.(A) 17 He must acknowledge the son of his unloved wife as the firstborn by giving him a double(B) share of all he has. That son is the first sign of his father’s strength.(C) The right of the firstborn belongs to him.(D)
A Rebellious Son
18 If someone has a stubborn and rebellious(E) son(F) who does not obey his father and mother(G) and will not listen to them when they discipline him,
