17 But he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the [a]unloved, by giving him a double portion of all that [b]he has, for he is the (A)beginning of his strength; (B)to him belongs the right of the firstborn.

18 “If any man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will (C)not obey his father or his mother, and when they chastise him, he will not even listen to them, 19 then his father and mother shall seize him, and bring him out to the elders of his city [c]at the gateway of his hometown.

A Rebellious Son

18 If someone has a stubborn and rebellious(D) son(E) who does not obey his father and mother(F) and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town.
