23 (A)it is not to remain there overnight. It must be buried the same day, because a dead body hanging on a post brings God's curse on the land. Bury the body, so that you will not defile the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

New International Version
23 you must not leave the body hanging on the pole overnight.(A) Be sure to bury(B) it that same day, because anyone who is hung on a pole is under God’s curse.(C) You must not desecrate(D) the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.
