(A)No Ammonite or Moabite shall enter the assembly of the Lord; none of their descendants, even to the tenth generation, shall ever enter the assembly of the Lord, (B)because they did not meet you with [a]food and water on the way when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you (C)Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of [b]Mesopotamia, to curse you.

28 “And you, son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God concerning the sons of Ammon and concerning their (A)reproach,’ and say: ‘A sword, a sword is drawn, polished for the slaughter, to cause it [a]to (B)consume, that it may be like lightning— 29 while they see for you (C)false visions, while they divine lies for you—to place you on the necks of the wicked who are slain, whose day has come, in the (D)time of the [b]punishment of the end. 30 (E)Return it to its sheath. In the (F)place where you were created, in the land of your origin, I will judge you. 31 I will (G)pour out My indignation on you; I will (H)blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and I will give you into the hand of brutal men, [c](I)skilled in destruction. 32 You will be [d](J)fuel for the fire; your blood will be in the midst of the land. You will (K)not be remembered, for I, the Lord, have spoken.’”

“Son of man, set your face toward the (A)sons of Ammon and prophesy against them, and say to the sons of Ammon, ‘Hear the word of the Lord [a]God! Thus says the Lord God, “Because you said, ‘(B)Aha!’ against My sanctuary when it was profaned, and against the land of Israel when it was made desolate, and against the house of Judah when they went into exile, therefore, behold, I am going to give you to the (C)sons of the east for a possession, and they will set their encampments among you and make their dwellings among you; they will (D)eat your fruit and drink your milk. I will make (E)Rabbah a pasture for camels and the sons of Ammon a resting place for flocks. Thus you will know that I am the Lord.” For thus says the Lord God, “Because you have (F)clapped your hands and stamped your feet and (G)rejoiced with all the scorn of your soul against the land of Israel, therefore, behold, I have (H)stretched out My hand against you and I will give you for (I)spoil to the nations. Moab

‘Thus says the Lord God, “Because (M)Moab and Seir say, ‘Behold, the house of Judah is like all the nations,’ therefore, behold, I am going to [b]deprive the flank of Moab of its cities, of its cities which are on its [c]frontiers, the glory of the land, (N)Beth-jeshimoth, (O)Baal-meon and (P)Kiriathaim, 10 and I will give it for a possession along with the sons of Ammon to the (Q)sons of the east, so that the sons of Ammon will not be remembered among the nations.

“For three transgressions of the sons of (A)Ammon and for four
I will not revoke its punishment,

“I have heard the [a](A)taunting of Moab
And the (B)revilings of the sons of Ammon,
With which they have [b]taunted My people

“Therefore, as I live,” declares the Lord of hosts,
The God of Israel,
“Surely (D)Moab will be like (E)Sodom
And the sons of (F)Ammon like (G)Gomorrah—
A place possessed by nettles and salt pits,

The remnant of My people will (H)plunder them
And the remainder of My nation will inherit them.”

10 This they will have in return for their (I)pride, because they have [d](J)taunted and [e]become arrogant against the people of the Lord of hosts. 11 The Lord will be (K)terrifying to them, for He will [f]starve (L)all the gods of the earth; and all the (M)coastlands of the nations will (N)bow down to Him, everyone from his own place.
