Deuteronomy 23:5-7 Evangelical Heritage Version (EHV)

But the Lord your God was not willing to listen to Balaam, and the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loved you. Do not seek their peace and prosperity as long as you live.

Do not detest an Edomite, because he is your brother. Do not detest an Egyptian, because you were an alien in his land.

Deuteronomy 23:5-7 New International Version (NIV)

However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you. Do not seek a treaty of friendship with them as long as you live.

Do not despise an Edomite, for the Edomites are related to you. Do not despise an Egyptian, because you resided as foreigners in their country.
