Consequences of Disobedience

¹⁵ “^(A)But it shall come about, if you do not ^[a]obey the Lord your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes with which I charge you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:

¹⁶ The Lord said to Moses, “Behold, ^(A)you are about to lie down with your fathers; and ^(B)this people will arise and play the harlot with the strange gods of the land, into the midst of which they are going, and ^(C)will forsake Me and break My covenant which I have made with them. ^17 (D)Then My anger will be kindled against them in that day, and ^(E)I will forsake them and ^(F)hide My face from them, and they will be consumed, and many evils and troubles will come upon them; so that they will say in that day, ‘^(G)Is it not because our God is not among us that these evils have come upon us?’

¹³ “Go, inquire of the Lord for me and the people and all Judah concerning the words of this book that has been found, for ^(A)great is the wrath of the Lord that burns against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us.”

^17 (A)Because they have forsaken Me and have burned incense to other gods that they might provoke Me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore My wrath burns against this place, and it shall not be quenched.”’

⁵ I ^(A)Myself will war against you with an ^(B)outstretched hand and a mighty arm, even in ^(C)anger and wrath and great indignation.
