Consequences of Disobedience

¹⁵ “^(A)But it shall come about, if you do not ^[a]obey the Lord your God, to be careful to ^[b]follow all His commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:

¹⁶ The Lord said to Moses, “Behold, ^(A)you are about to ^[a]lie down with your fathers; and ^(B)this people will arise and play the prostitute with the foreign gods of the land into the midst of which they are going, and ^(C)they will abandon Me and break My covenant which I have made with them. ^17 (D)Then My anger will be kindled against them on that day, and ^(E)I will abandon them and ^(F)hide My face from them, and they will be consumed, and many evils and troubles will find them; so they will say on that day, ‘^(G)Is it not because our God is not among us that these evils have found us?’

¹³ “Go, inquire of the Lord for me and for the people and all Judah concerning the words of this book that has been found, for ^(A)the wrath of the Lord that burns against us is great, because our fathers did not listen to the words of this book, to act in accordance with everything that is written regarding us.”

^17 (A)Since they have abandoned Me and have burned incense to other gods so that they may provoke Me to anger with all the work of their hands, My wrath burns against this place, and it shall not be quenched.’”
