Deuteronomy 29:25-27
Modern English Version
25 Then men will say, “Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt. 26 For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods which they did not know and which He had not given to them. 27 The anger of the Lord burned against this land, bringing on it all the curses that are written in this book.

New International Version
25 And the answer will be: “It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt.(A) 26 They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them. 27 Therefore the Lord’s anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book.(B)
