16 And Yahweh said to Moses, “Look, you are about to lie down with your ancestors,[a] and this people will arise and they[b] will play the prostitute after the foreign gods[c] of the land to which they are going.[d] 17 And my anger shall flare up against them[e] on that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they[f] shall become as prey, and disasters and troubles shall find[g] them,[h] and they[i] shall say on that day, ‘Is it not because our[j] God is not in our[k] midst that these disasters have found[l] us?’[m] 18 But I will certainly hide my face on that day, because of all of the evil that they[n] did because they[o] turned to other gods.

16 And the Lord said to Moses: “You are going to rest with your ancestors,(A) and these people will soon prostitute(B) themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake(C) me and break the covenant I made with them. 17 And in that day I will become angry(D) with them and forsake(E) them; I will hide(F) my face(G) from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters(H) and calamities will come on them, and in that day they will ask, ‘Have not these disasters come on us because our God is not with us?’(I) 18 And I will certainly hide my face in that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods.
