Israel Urged to Obey God’s Law

4 “Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which ^(A)I am teaching you to perform, so that ^(B)you will live and go in and take possession of the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you.

⁴⁷ For it is not a ^[a]trivial matter for you; indeed ^(A)it is your life. And ^(B)by this word you will prolong your days in the land, ^[b]which you are about to cross the Jordan to ^[c]possess.”

²⁵ nor is He served by human hands, ^(A)as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;

²⁸ for ^(A)in Him we live and move and ^[a]exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His descendants.’
