⁶ For you are a people holy^(A) to the Lord your God.^(B) The Lord your God has chosen^(C) you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.^(D)

⁶ Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in obedience to him^(A) and revering him.^(B)

Fear the Lord

¹² And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you^(A) but to fear^(B) the Lord your God, to walk^(C) in obedience to him, to love him,^(D) to serve the Lord^(E) your God with all your heart^(F) and with all your soul,^{(G) 13} and to observe the Lord’s commands^(H) and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?^(I)

²² If you carefully observe^(A) all these commands I am giving you to follow—to love^(B) the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him and to hold fast^(C) to him—

Curses From Mount Ebal

⁹ Then Moses and the Levitical^(A) priests said to all Israel, “Be silent, Israel, and listen! You have now become the people of the Lord your God.^(B)

Blessings for Obedience

28 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow^(A) all his commands^(B) I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.^(C)

⁹ The Lord will establish you as his holy people,^(A) as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands^(B) of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him.

¹² You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the Lord your God, a covenant the Lord is making with you this day and sealing with an oath, ¹³ to confirm you this day as his people,^(A) that he may be your God^(B) as he promised you and as he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
