⁵Keep in mind that the Lord your God has been disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.

Deuteronomy 8:5

King James Version

⁵Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee.

⁹Resist him^(A) and be firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world.

⁹Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
