Deuteronomy 9:16-18

16 And (A)I looked, and behold, you had sinned against the Lord your God—had made for yourselves a molded calf! You had turned aside quickly from the way which the Lord had commanded you. 17 Then I took the two tablets and threw them out of my two hands and (B)broke them before your eyes. 18 And I (C)fell[a] down before the Lord, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you committed in doing wickedly in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger.

Deuteronomy 9:16-18
New International Version
16 When I looked, I saw that you had sinned against the Lord your God; you had made for yourselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf.(A) You had turned aside quickly from the way that the Lord had commanded you. 17 So I took the two tablets and threw them out of my hands, breaking them to pieces before your eyes.
18 Then once again I fell(B) prostrate before the Lord for forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water,(C) because of all the sin you had committed,(D) doing what was evil in the Lord’s sight and so arousing his anger.
