Principles Governing Warfare

20 “When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see ^(A)horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be ^(B)afraid of them; for the Lord your God is ^(C)with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.

¹² Now look, God Himself is with us as our ^(A)head, ^(B)and His priests with sounding trumpets to sound the alarm against you. O children of Israel, do not fight against the Lord God of your fathers, for you shall not prosper!”

¹¹ And Asa ^(A)cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is ^(B)nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and ^(C)in Your name we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!”

⁸ With him is an ^(A)arm of flesh; but ^(B)with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

³² And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of ^(A)Gideon and ^(B)Barak and ^(C)Samson and ^(D)Jephthah, also of ^(E)David and ^(F)Samuel and the prophets: ³³ who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, ^(G)stopped the mouths of lions, ^34 (H)quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
