¹⁶ “Fathers are not to be put to death for their children or children for their fathers; each person will be put to death for his own sin.^(A)

¹⁸ If I say to the wicked person,^(A) ‘You will surely die,’ but you do not warn him—you don’t speak out to warn him about his wicked way in order to save his life—that wicked person will die for his iniquity. Yet I will hold you responsible for his blood.

⁸ If I say to the wicked, ‘Wicked one, you will surely die,’^(A) but you do not speak out to warn him about his way, that wicked person will die for his iniquity, yet I will hold you responsible for his blood.

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin.^[a](A) Now they have no excuse for their sin.

²³ For all have sinned^(A) and fall short of the^[a] glory of God.

²³ For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.^(A)
