49 (A)Go up to this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab [a]opposite Jericho, and look at the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel as a possession.

14 So when the people set out from their tents to cross the Jordan, with the priests carrying (A)the ark of the covenant before the people, 15 and when those who were carrying the ark came up to the Jordan and the feet of the priests carrying the ark [a]stepped down into the edge of the water (for the (B)Jordan overflows all its banks all the days of harvest), 16 then (C)the waters which were [b]flowing down from above stood and rose up in (D)one heap, a great distance away at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those which were [c]flowing down toward the sea of the (E)Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. So the people crossed opposite Jericho. 17 And the priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm (F)on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan while all Israel crossed on dry ground, until all the nation had finished crossing the Jordan.

(A)For the Lord has [a]driven out great and mighty nations from before you; and as for you, (B)no one has stood against you to this day.

18 The Lord drove out from before us all the peoples, even the Amorites who lived in the land. We also will serve the Lord, for He is our God.”

You with Your own hand (A)drove out the nations;
Then You (B)planted them;
You (C)afflicted the peoples,
Then You (D)let them go free.
For by their own sword they (E)did not possess the land,
And their own arm did not save them,
But Your right hand and Your (F)arm and the (G)light of Your presence,
For You (H)favored them.

You are (I)my King, God;
(J)Command [a]victories for Jacob.
Through You we will (K)push back our adversaries;
Through Your name we will (L)trample down those who rise up against us.
For I will (M)not trust in my bow,
Nor will my sword save me.
But You (N)have saved us from our adversaries,
And You have (O)put to shame those who hate us.
In God we have (P)boasted all day long,
And we will (Q)give thanks to Your name forever. Selah

Yet You (R)have rejected us and brought us to (S)dishonor,
And (T)do not go out with our armies.
10 You cause us to (U)turn back from the enemy;
And those who hate us (V)have taken spoils for themselves.
11 You turn us over [b]to be eaten like (W)sheep,
And have (X)scattered us among the nations.
12 You (Y)sell Your people [c]cheaply,
And have not [d]profited by their sale.
13 You make us an object of (Z)reproach to our neighbors,
Of scoffing and (AA)ridicule to those around us.
14 You make us (AB)a proverb among the nations,
A [e](AC)laughingstock among the peoples.
15 All day long my dishonor is before me
And [f]I am covered with my (AD)humiliation,
16 Because of the voice of one who (AE)taunts and reviles,
Because of the presence of the (AF)enemy and the avenger.

17 All this has come upon us, but we have (AG)not forgotten You,
And we have not (AH)dealt falsely with Your covenant.
18 Our heart has not (AI)turned back,
And our steps (AJ)have not deviated from Your way,
19 Yet You have (AK)crushed us in a place of (AL)jackals
And covered us with [g](AM)deep darkness.

20 If we had (AN)forgotten the name of our God
Or extended our [h]hands to (AO)a strange god,
21 Would God not (AP)find this out?
For He knows the secrets of the heart.
22 But (AQ)for Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are regarded as (AR)sheep to be slaughtered.
23 (AS)Wake Yourself up, why (AT)do You sleep, Lord?
Awake, (AU)do not reject us forever.
24 Why do You (AV)hide Your face
And (AW)forget our affliction and oppression?
25 For our (AX)souls have sunk down into the dust;
Our bodies cling to the earth.
26 (AY)Rise up, be our help,
And (AZ)redeem us because of Your mercy.
