⁸ When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance^[a]
and divided the human race,^(A)
he set the boundaries of the peoples^(B)
according to the number of the people of Israel.^[b]
9 But the Lord’s portion is his people,
Jacob, his own inheritance.^(C)

⁶ The boundary lines have fallen for me
in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.^(A)

¹⁵ All who pass by
scornfully clap their hands^(A) at you.
They hiss^(B) and shake their heads^(C)
at Daughter Jerusalem:
Is this the city that was called
the perfection of beauty,^(D)
the joy of the whole earth?^(E)
