³ The God of Israel spoke,
    the Rock^(A) of Israel said to me:
‘When one rules over people in righteousness,^(B)
    when he rules in the fear^(C) of God,^(D)
4 he is like the light^(E) of morning^(F) at sunrise^(G)
    on a cloudless morning,
like the brightness after rain^(H)
    that brings grass from the earth.’

¹⁰ Therefore, you kings, be wise;^(A)
    be warned, you rulers^(B) of the earth.
¹¹ Serve the Lord with fear^(C)
    and celebrate his rule^(D) with trembling.^(E)

³ May the mountains bring prosperity to the people,
    the hills the fruit of righteousness.
⁴ May he defend the afflicted^(C) among the people
    and save the children of the needy;^(D)
    may he crush the oppressor.^(E)
5 May he endure^[a](F) as long as the sun,
    as long as the moon, through all generations.^(G)
6 May he be like rain^(H) falling on a mown field,
    like showers watering the earth.
⁷ In his days may the righteous flourish^(I)
    and prosperity abound till the moon is no more.

¹¹ Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted,^(A)
    but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.^(B)

³⁴ Righteousness exalts a nation,^(A)
    but sin condemns any people.

¹² Kings detest wrongdoing,
    for a throne is established through righteousness.^(A)

²⁸ Love and faithfulness keep a king safe;
    through love^(A) his throne is made secure.^(B)

² When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice;^(A)
    when the wicked rule,^(B) the people groan.^(C)
