Ecclesiastes 12:11-13

New Life Version

¹¹The words of wise men are like a stick. Their gathered sayings are like well-driven nails given by one Shepherd. ¹²But more than this, my son, be careful. There is no end to the writing of many books and reading many of them makes the body tired.

¹³The last word, after all has been heard, is: Honor God and obey His Laws. This is all that every person must do.

Ecclesiastes 12:11-13

New International Version

¹¹The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails^(A)—given by one shepherd.^[a] ¹²Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them.

Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.^(B)

¹³Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God^(C) and keep his commandments,^(D)
for this is the duty of all mankind.^(E)
