Fear God

5 ^{[a] (A)}Guard your steps when you go to ^(B)the house of God. To draw near to listen is better than to ^(C)offer the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they are doing evil.

¹³ Go and learn ^(A)what this means, ^(B)‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For ^(C)I came not to call the righteous, ^(D)but sinners.”

⁷ And if you had known ^(A)what this means, ^(B)‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice’, you would not have condemned the guiltless.

³³ And to love him with all the heart and with all ^(A)the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbour as oneself, ^(B)is much more than all ^(C)whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
