10 For we are (A)His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Brought Near by His Blood

11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called (B)the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands— 12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Christ Our Peace

14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one (C)new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might (D)reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby (E)putting to death the enmity. 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18 For (F)through Him we both have access (G)by one Spirit to the Father.

Christ Our Cornerstone

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been (H)built (I)on the foundation of the (J)apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being (K)the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into (L)a holy temple in the Lord, 22 (M)in whom you also are being built together for a (N)dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

The Mystery Revealed

For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles— if indeed you have heard of the [a]dispensation of the grace of God (O)which was given to me for you, (P)how that by revelation (Q)He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: that the Gentiles (R)should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel, (S)of which I became a minister (T)according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by (U)the effective working of His power.

Purpose of the Mystery

To me, (V)who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles (W)the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all see what is the [b]fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who (X)created all things [c]through Jesus Christ; 10 (Y)to the intent that now (Z)the [d]manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church (AA)to the [e]principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 (AB)according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access (AC)with confidence through faith in Him. 13 (AD)Therefore I ask that you do not lose heart at my tribulations for you, (AE)which is your glory.

Jew and Gentile Reconciled Through Christ

11 Therefore, remember that formerly(D) you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)(E) 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners(F) to the covenants of the promise,(G) without hope(H) and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once(I) were far away have been brought near(J) by the blood of Christ.(K)

14 For he himself is our peace,(L) who has made the two groups one(M) and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by setting aside in his flesh(N) the law with its commands and regulations.(O) His purpose was to create in himself one(P) new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, 16 and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross,(Q) by which he put to death their hostility. 17 He came and preached peace(R) to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.(S) 18 For through him we both have access(T) to the Father(U) by one Spirit.(V)

19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers,(W) but fellow citizens(X) with God’s people and also members of his household,(Y) 20 built(Z) on the foundation(AA) of the apostles and prophets,(AB) with Christ Jesus himself(AC) as the chief cornerstone.(AD) 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple(AE) in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.(AF)

God’s Marvelous Plan for the Gentiles

For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner(AG) of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles—

Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me(AH) for you, that is, the mystery(AI) made known to me by revelation,(AJ) as I have already written briefly. In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight(AK) into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets.(AL) This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs(AM) together with Israel, members together of one body,(AN) and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.(AO)

I became a servant of this gospel(AP) by the gift of God’s grace given me(AQ) through the working of his power.(AR) Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people,(AS) this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles(AT) the boundless riches of Christ,(AU) and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery,(AV) which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God(AW) should be made known(AX) to the rulers and authorities(AY) in the heavenly realms,(AZ) 11 according to his eternal purpose(BA) that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God(BB) with freedom and confidence.(BC) 13 I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.
