² And walk in love, as the Messiah also loved us and gave Himself for us,^(A) a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.

The Messiah, a High Priest

5 For every high priest taken from men is appointed in service^[a] to God for the people, to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.

³ Because of this, he must make a sin offering for himself as well as for the people.^(A)

¹² He entered the most holy place once for all, not by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.^(A)

²⁸ so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of many,^(A) will appear a second time,^(B) not to bear sin, but^[a] to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.^(C)
