12 Haman also said, “Even Esther the queen let no one but me come with the king to the feast which she had prepared; and (A)tomorrow also I am called to come to her with the king. 13 Yet all of this is worth nothing to me every time I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at (B)the king’s gate.” 14 Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him, “(C)Have a [a]gallows [b]fifty cubits high made and in the morning say to the king that Mordecai should be hanged on it; then go gladly with the king to the feast.” And the word was good to Haman, so he had the gallows made.

12 “And that’s not all,” Haman added. “I’m the only person(A) Queen Esther invited to accompany the king to the banquet she gave. And she has invited me along with the king tomorrow. 13 But all this gives me no satisfaction as long as I see that Jew Mordecai sitting at the king’s gate.(B)

14 His wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, “Have a pole set up, reaching to a height of fifty cubits,[a](C) and ask the king in the morning to have Mordecai impaled(D) on it. Then go with the king to the banquet and enjoy yourself.” This suggestion delighted Haman, and he had the pole set up.
