²⁰ The decree the king issues will be heard throughout his vast kingdom,^(A) so all women will honor their husbands,^(B) from the least to the greatest.”^(C)

³⁴ No longer will one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’^(A) for they will all know Me, from the least to the greatest of them”—this is the Lord’s declaration. “For I will forgive their wrongdoing^(B) and never again remember their sin.”^(C)

The People Seek Jeremiah’s Counsel

42 Then all the commanders of the armies, along with Johanan son of Kareah,^(A) Jezaniah son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least to the greatest,^(B) approached

⁸ and he summoned Johanan son of Kareah, all the commanders of the armies who were with him, and all the people from the least to the greatest.

¹² And I will take away the remnant of Judah,^(A) those who have resolved to go to the land of Egypt to live there for a while; they will meet their end. All of them in the land of Egypt will fall by the sword; they will meet their end by famine. From the least to the greatest, they will die by the sword and by famine. Then they will become an object of cursing, scorn,^(B) execration, and disgrace.
