⁵ You must not worship or serve them, because I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God. ·If you hate me, I will punish your children, and even your grandchildren and great-grandchildren [^LI will visit/punish the guilt of the fathers on the sons/^Tchildren until the third and fourth generations of those who hate me]. ⁶ But I show kindness to ·thousands [or thousands of generations of those] who love me and obey my commands.
