20 And God blessed the midwives because they were God-fearing women.[a] So the people of Israel continued to multiply and to become a mighty nation. 21 And because the midwives revered God, he gave them children of their own. 22 Then Pharaoh commanded all of his people to throw the newborn Hebrew boys into the Nile River. But the girls, he said, could live.

New International Version
20 So God was kind to the midwives(A) and the people increased and became even more numerous. 21 And because the midwives feared(B) God, he gave them families(C) of their own.
22 Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: “Every Hebrew boy that is born you must throw into the Nile,(D) but let every girl live.”(E)
