² and ^(A)that you may recount in the ^[a]hearing of your son and of your grandson, how I dealt severely with the Egyptians, and how I ^[b]put My signs among them, ^(B)that you may know that I am Yahweh.”

^8 (A)And you shall tell your son on that day, saying, ‘It is because of what Yahweh did for me when I came out of Egypt.’

^14 (A)And it will be when your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is this?’ then you shall say to him, ‘^(B)With a strong hand Yahweh brought us out of Egypt, from the house of ^[a]slavery. ¹⁵ And it happened, when Pharaoh hardened his heart with stiffness about letting us go, that ^(C)Yahweh killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of beast. Therefore, I sacrifice to Yahweh the males, the first ^[b]offspring of every womb, but every firstborn of my sons I redeem.’

⁶ in order that this would be a sign among you, so that ^(A)when your children ask ^[a]later, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’
