Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats. You shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month, and then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. They shall take some of the blood and put it on the two side posts and on the upper doorpost of the houses in which they shall eat it.

The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect,(A) and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month,(B) when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight.(C) Then they are to take some of the blood(D) and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs.
