7 In the greatness of Your power You destroy those who fight against You. You send Your burning anger and it burns them like straw. 8 The waters were lifted up by Your breath. The flowing waters stood up like a wall. The water became hard in the middle of the sea. 9 Those who hated us said, ‘I will go after them. I will catch them. I will divide the riches taken from them. My soul will have its way against them. I will take out my sword and my hand will destroy them.’

7 “In the greatness of your majesty(A)
you threw down those who opposed you.
You unleashed your burning anger;(B)
it consumed(C) them like stubble.
8 By the blast of your nostrils(D)
the waters piled up.(E)
The surging waters stood up like a wall;(F)
the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea.(G)
9 The enemy boasted,
‘I will pursue,(H) I will overtake them.
I will divide the spoils;(I)
I will gorge myself on them.
I will draw my sword
and my hand will destroy them.’
