¹² “I ^(A)have heard the grumbling of the people of Israel. Say to them, ‘At ^(B)twilight you shall eat meat, and ^(C)in the morning you shall be filled with bread. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’”

¹⁴ And when the dew had gone up, there was on the face of the wilderness a fine, flake-like thing, fine as frost on the ground. ¹⁵ When the people of Israel saw it, they said to one another, ^(A)“What is it?”^[a] For they ^(B)did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, ^(C)“It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat.

³⁵ The people of Israel ^(A)ate the manna for forty years, till they came to a habitable land. They ate the manna till ^(B)they came to the border of the land of Canaan.

⁶ But now our strength is dried up, and there is nothing at all but this manna to look at.”

⁷ Now ^(A)the manna was like coriander seed, and its appearance like that of bdellium. ^8 (B)The people went about and gathered it and ground it in handmills or beat it in mortars and boiled it in pots and made cakes of it. ^(C)And the taste of it was like the taste of cakes baked with oil. ^9 (D)When the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell with it.

⁵ And the people ^(A)spoke against God and against Moses, ^(B)“Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and ^(C)we loathe this worthless food.”
