So Moses rose up in their defense and watered their flock. 18 When they returned to their father Reuel,[a] he said to them, “How is it you have returned so soon today?”

16 Now a priest of Midian(A) had seven daughters, and they came to draw water(B) and fill the troughs(C) to water their father’s flock. 17 Some shepherds came along and drove them away, but Moses got up and came to their rescue(D) and watered their flock.(E)
18 When the girls returned to Reuel(F) their father, he asked them, “Why have you returned so early today?”
