Exodus 20:19-21

¹⁹ They said to Moses, “You speak to us and we will listen. But do not let God speak to us or we will die.” ²⁰ Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so you may have enough fear of Him to keep you from sinning.” ²¹ The people stood far away, while Moses came near to the cloud where God was.
