⁶“You shall not pervert (bend) the justice due to your poor in his dispute.

Exodus 23:6

⁶“Do not deny justice^(A) to your poor people in their lawsuits.

“If I have withheld from the poor what they desired,
Or have caused the eyes of the widow to look in vain [for relief],

¹⁶“If I have denied the desires of the poor^(A)
or let the eyes of the widow^(B) grow weary,^(C)

If I have lifted my hand against the orphan,
Because I saw [that the judges would be] my help at the [council] gate,

²¹if I have raised my hand against the fatherless,^(A)
knowing that I had influence in court,^(B)
