¹⁶ Then put in the ark the tablets of the covenant law,^(A) which I will give you.

¹⁸ When the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai,^(A) he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone^(B) inscribed by the finger of God.^(C)

¹⁵ Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the covenant law^(A) in his hands.^(B) They were inscribed^(C) on both sides, front and back.

⁹ When I went up on the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant^(A) that the Lord had made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days^(B) and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water.^(C)

¹¹ At the end of the forty days and forty nights,^(A) the Lord gave me the two stone tablets,^(B) the tablets of the covenant.

¹⁵ So I turned and went down from the mountain while it was ablaze with fire. And the two tablets of the covenant were in my hands.^(A)

³ So I made the ark out of acacia wood^(A) and chiseled^(B) out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hands. ⁴ The Lord wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments^(C) he had proclaimed^(D) to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly.^(E) And the Lord gave them to me. ⁵ Then I came back down the mountain^(F) and put the tablets in the ark^(G) I had made,^(H) as the Lord commanded me, and they are there now.^(I)
