³⁷ “Make its seven lamps,^(A) and set them up so that they illuminate the area in front of it.

³³ Hang the curtain under the clasps^[a] and bring the ark of the testimony there behind the curtain, so the curtain will make a separation for you between the holy place^(A) and the most holy place.

³⁵ Place the table outside the curtain and the lampstand on the south side of the tabernacle, opposite the table; put the table on the north side.^(A)

³⁶ “For the entrance to the tent you are to make a screen embroidered^[a] with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and finely spun linen.

The Courtyard

⁹ “You^(A) are to make the courtyard for the tabernacle. Make hangings for the south side of the courtyard out of finely spun linen, 150 feet^[a] long on that side

¹⁶ The gate of the courtyard is to have a 30-foot^[a] screen^(A) embroidered^[b] with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and finely spun linen. It is to have four posts and their four bases.

³⁸ “This is what you are to offer regularly on the altar every day: two year-old lambs.^(A)

⁵ Make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.

⁶ “You are to place the altar in front of the curtain by the ark of the testimony—in front of the mercy seat that is over the testimony—where I will meet with you. ⁷ Aaron must burn fragrant incense on it; he must burn it every morning when he tends the lamps.^(A)

¹⁹ Aaron and his sons must wash their hands and feet from the basin. ²⁰ Whenever they enter the tent of meeting or approach the altar to minister by burning a food offering to the Lord, they must wash with water so that they will not die.

Setting Up the Tabernacle

40 The Lord spoke to Moses: ² “You are to set up the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, on the first day of the first month.^{[a](A) 3} Put the ark^(B) of the testimony there and screen off the ark with the curtain. ⁴ Then bring in the table and lay out its arrangement; also bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps. ⁵ Place the gold altar for incense in front of the ark of the testimony. Put up the screen for the entrance to the tabernacle. ⁶ Position the altar of burnt offering in front of the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting. ⁷ Place the basin^(C) between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it.
