³⁰ Place the Urim and Thummim^(A) in the breastpiece for decisions, so that they will also be over Aaron’s heart whenever he comes before the Lord. Aaron will continually carry the means of decisions for the Israelites over his heart before the Lord.

²¹ He will stand before Eleazar who will consult the Lord for him with the decision of the Urim.^(A) He and all the Israelites with him, even the entire community, will go out and come back in at his command.”

² So David inquired of the Lord:^(A) “Should I launch an attack against these Philistines?”

The Lord answered David, “Launch an attack against the Philistines and rescue Keilah.”

⁴ Once again, David inquired of the Lord, and the Lord answered him: “Go at once to Keilah, for I will hand the Philistines over to you.”^(A)

⁹ When David learned that Saul was plotting evil against him, he said to Abiathar the priest,^(A) “Bring the ephod.”^(B)

¹⁰ Then David said, “Lord God of Israel, Your servant has heard that Saul intends to come to Keilah and destroy the town because of me. ¹¹ Will the citizens of Keilah hand me over to him? Will Saul come down as Your servant has heard? Lord God of Israel, please tell Your servant.”

The Lord answered, “He will come down.”
