⁴² Make them linen undergarments^(A) to cover their naked bodies; they must extend from the waist^[a] to the thighs. ⁴³ These must be worn by Aaron and his sons whenever they enter the tent of meeting or approach the altar to minister in the sanctuary area, so that they do not incur guilt^(B) and die. This is to be a permanent statute^(C) for Aaron and for his future descendants.

¹⁰ The priest is to put on his linen robe and linen undergarments.^[a](A) He is to remove the ashes of the burnt offering the fire has consumed on the altar, and place them beside the altar.

⁷ He put the tunic on Aaron, wrapped the sash around him, clothed him with the robe, and put the ephod^(A) on him. He put the woven band of the ephod around him and fastened it to him. ⁸ Then he put the breastpiece on him and placed the Urim and Thummim^(B) into the breastpiece.

¹⁷ When they enter the gates of the inner court they must wear linen garments;^(A) they must not have on them anything made of wool when they minister at the gates of the inner court and within it. ¹⁸ They must wear linen turbans on their heads and linen undergarments around their waists.^(B) They are not to put on anything that makes them sweat. ¹⁹ Before they go out to the outer court,^[a] to the people, they must take off the clothes they have been ministering in, leave them in the holy chambers, and dress in other clothes^(C) so that they do not transmit holiness to the people through their clothes.^(D)
