¹⁶ “Go and assemble the elders of Israel and say to them: The Lord, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has appeared to me and said: I have paid close attention to you and to what has been done to you in Egypt.^(A)

¹⁶ Then fear^[a] came over everyone,^(A) and they glorified God,^(B) saying, “A great prophet has risen among us,”^(C) and “God has visited^[b] his people.”^(D)

¹² Conduct^(A) yourselves honorably among the Gentiles,^[a] so that when they slander you as evildoers, they will observe your good works and will glorify God on the day he visits.^(B)
