“Now as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘(A)You must keep My Sabbaths; for this is (B)a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, so that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. 14 Therefore you are to keep the Sabbath, for it is holy to you. (C)Everyone who profanes it must be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. 15 (D)For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a (E)Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord; (F)whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death. 16 So the sons of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to [a]celebrate the Sabbath throughout their generations as a permanent covenant.’ 17 (G)It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; (H)for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and was refreshed.”

  1. Exodus 31:16 Lit perform

Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you.

Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.

It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
