¹⁹ When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf^(A) and the dancing,^(B) his anger burned^(C) and he threw the tablets out of his hands, breaking them to pieces^(D) at the foot of the mountain.

²⁸ Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights^(A) without eating bread or drinking water.^(B) And he wrote on the tablets^(C) the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.^(D)

² I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Then you are to put them in the ark.”^(A)

⁴ The Lord wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments^(A) he had proclaimed^(B) to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly.^(C) And the Lord gave them to me.
