Exodus 32:8-10

⁸They have quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molten calf, and have worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, ‘This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt!’” ⁹The Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked (stubborn, rebellious) people. ¹⁰Now therefore, let Me alone and do not interfere, so that My anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them; and I will make of you (your descendants) a great nation.”

⁸They have been quick to turn away^(A) from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol^(B) cast in the shape of a calf.^(C) They have bowed down to it and sacrificed^(D) to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’^(E)

⁹“I have seen these people,” the Lord said to Moses, “and they are a stiff-necked^(F) people. ¹⁰Now leave me alone^(G) so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy^(H) them. Then I will make you into a great nation.”^(I)

⁸They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

⁹And the Lord said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

¹⁰Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.
