^9 (A)The Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and behold, they are ^[a](B)an obstinate people.

³ Go up to a land ^(A)flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, because you are ^[a](B)an obstinate people, and ^(C)I might destroy you on the way.”

⁵ For the Lord had said to Moses, “Say to the sons of Israel, ‘You are ^[a](A)an obstinate people; should I go up in your midst for one moment, I would destroy you. Now therefore, put off your ornaments from you, that I may know what I shall do with you.’”

⁴¹ I also was acting with hostility against them, to bring them into the land of their enemies—^(A)or if their uncircumcised heart becomes humbled so that ^(B)they then make amends for their iniquity,

¹⁴ for in the wilderness of Zin, during the strife of the congregation, ^(A)you rebelled against My ^[a]command ^[b]to treat Me as holy before their eyes at the water.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

²⁶ Egypt and Judah, and Edom and the sons of Ammon, and Moab and ^(A)all those inhabiting the desert who clip the hair on their temples; for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are ^(B)uncircumcised of heart.”
