³ Go up to a land ^(A)flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, because you are ^[a](B)an obstinate people, and ^(C)I might destroy you on the way.”

⁵ For the Lord had said to Moses, “Say to the sons of Israel, ‘You are ^[a](A)an obstinate people; if I ^[b]were to go up in your midst for just one moment, I would destroy you. So now, take off your ^[c]jewelry that I may know what I shall do to you.’”

⁴¹ I also was acting with hostility against them, to bring them into the land of their enemies—^(A)or if their uncircumcised heart is humbled so that ^(B)they then make amends for their wrongdoing,

¹⁴ for in the wilderness of Zin, during the strife of the congregation, ^(A)you rebelled against My ^[a]command to treat Me as holy before their eyes at the water.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)
