^5 (A)The Lord descended in the cloud and stood there with him as ^[a]he called upon the name of the Lord. ⁶ Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, ^(B)compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and ^[b]truth; ⁷ who ^(C)keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He ^(D)will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, ^(E)visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, “It is what the Lord spoke, saying,

So Aaron, therefore, kept silent.

¹⁰ But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. ^(A)Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?” ^(B)In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

^8 (A)Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the Lord which you have spoken is good.” For he ^[a]thought, “For there will be peace and truth ^(B)in my days.”
