2 The Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” And he said, “(A)A staff.” 3 Then He said, “Throw it on the ground.” So he threw it on the ground, and (B)it turned into a serpent; and Moses fled from it. 4 But the Lord said to Moses, “Reach out with your hand and grasp it by its tail”—so he reached out with his hand and caught it, and it turned into a staff in his [a]hand—

2 Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?”
“A staff,”(A) he replied.
3 The Lord said, “Throw it on the ground.”
Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake,(B) and he ran from it. 4 Then the Lord said to him, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail.” So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand.
