20 So Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded. And he lifted up [a](A)the staff and struck the water that was in the Nile in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants; and (B)all the water that was in the Nile was turned into blood. 21 Then the fish that were in the Nile died, and the Nile stank, so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile. And the blood was through all the land of Egypt. 22 (C)But the soothsayer priests of Egypt did the same with their secret arts; and Pharaoh’s heart was [b]hardened, and he did not listen to them, just as the Lord had said.

New International Version
20 Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded.(A) He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile,(B) and all the water was changed into blood.(C) 21 The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt.
22 But the Egyptian magicians(D) did the same things by their secret arts,(E) and Pharaoh’s heart(F) became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said.
