The most talented magicians in Pharaoh’s Egypt were called to perform the same act with their incantations and they, too, called forth the frogs into Egypt.

Pharaoh’s magicians may be able to conjure up frogs, but they can’t make them leave.

Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron.

Pharaoh: Plead with the Eternal to remove the frogs from my land, from my house, and from the houses of my people. If He does this, I will release the people so that they can go sacrifice to the Eternal One.

Moses: You may have the honor of naming the time when I plead for you, your servants, and your people and ask God to get rid of the frogs that are plaguing you and your houses. There will be no frogs left except in the Nile.

But the magicians did the same things by their secret arts;(A) they also made frogs come up on the land of Egypt.

Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray(B) to the Lord to take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will let your people go to offer sacrifices(C) to the Lord.”

Moses said to Pharaoh, “I leave to you the honor of setting the time(D) for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.”
