^26 (A)And when your children say to you, ‘^[a]What does this rite mean to you?’ ²⁷ then you shall say, ‘It is a Passover sacrifice to ^(B)the Lord because He passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt when He struck the Egyptians, but ^[b]spared our homes.’” ^(C)And the people bowed low and worshiped.

²⁰ “^(A)When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What do the provisions and the statutes and the judgments mean which the Lord our God commanded you?’

¹³ Then Gideon said to him, “O my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did the Lord not bring us up from Egypt?’ But ^(A)now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to Midian.”
