⁴⁸ If a foreigner resides with you and wants to celebrate the Lord’s Passover, every male in his household must be circumcised, and then he may participate;^[a] he will become like a native of the land. But no uncircumcised person may eat it.

¹⁶ Therefore, circumcise your hearts^(A) and don’t be stiff-necked any longer.

⁸ Then He gave him the covenant of circumcision. After this, he fathered Isaac and circumcised^(A) him on the eighth day; Isaac did the same with Jacob, and Jacob with the 12 patriarchs.^(B)

¹¹ And he received the sign of circumcision^(A) as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith^[a](B) while still uncircumcised. This was to make him the father^(C) of all who believe^(D) but are not circumcised, so that righteousness may be credited to them also.
